Someone Like Me

Since I haven’t had the chance to say it yet properly, Happy New Year everyone!! I hope all your 2012s have started brilliantly =) At the moment mine hasn’t been going fantastically – the cold I had before Christmas sort of dwindled then decided to stick around, then turned into an ear infection so I was given antibiotics for that, then I’m pretty sure I got laryngitis over New Year because I lost my voice on New Year’s Eve and it’s still not even back yet (!), and now I have cystitis. Sorry for the overshare, but I used to get cystitis a lot when I was on antibiotics for tonsillitis so I’m pretty sure it’s those. But I just feel so awful =( It’s so painful, so this isn’t going to be the happiest post ever I’m afraid.

This is a new dress =) It was on the Motel Rocks website in red and black for £42, then reduced to £19, then on Facebook they did a thing where the dress with the most Likes went down to £10, so I finally decided to get it then. It got sent out and arrived the next day, but when I opened it I realised it was the wrong dress, I’d been sent a sleeveless version with a high neck instead – it looked ridiculous on me! So when I emailed them, they offered to send me another, which they did on Next Day Delivery, but when that one arrived it was the same wrong dress, just in a different size!! So when I emailed them this time, they were apologetic but the red and black was out of stock, so they offered me green or nude instead, so I went for green, which was supposed to be £19. So finally I have the right dress and I actually ended up getting it cheaper!! I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it though because the material is very very thin and it doesn’t feel particularly well made, but it’s still very pretty =)

Also, do you like my hair?? It’s my attempt at a Waterfall Braid using this tutorial. It’s a little bit messy and I need some more practice because I couldn’t get round my whole head, but apart from that I thought it worked quite well! I’ll definitely be trying it again, I think it’ll look really good in summer. Right, now I’m going to go and sulk in pain =( Any tips on cystitis treatment would be appreciated, although I’ve trawled the internet so many times I don’t think I’ll hear any new ones. I’m taking those sachets at the moment and paracetamol plus lots of water (I’ve literally had about 5 pints of water in the last couple of hours!). When I used to get it, it would be awful for a few hours then hang around annoyingly for a few days. Sometimes I would take antibiotics but only one type would work for it, but they were like a miracle cure and apparently if I take them too much I’ll become immune to them, so I’m reluctant to take more unless it’s really bad in case it comes back worse in the future. Eurgh I’m such a miserable person right now =( I’m sorry! I also have news of my mysterious illness: the doctor is pretty certain it’s ME/CFS but I’d have to wait ages for NHS tests and there’s no point in going private for them because they can’t really do anything anyway, so basically I just have to take it as I can right now and see how things go.

Cystitis = urinary tract infection, right? I usually drink lots of cranberry juice and take cranberry pills (if they have those in the UK – they might be an American thing!!) Cranberry is really good for infection. I have chronic interstitial cystitis (symptoms of UTI without any actual bacteria or infection, which sucks about as much as it sounds!!) so I usually cut out all acid from my diet except for cranberry juice and cranberry pills — cutting acid from your diet reduces body inflammation. I mostly eat sweet potatoes and chicken for a few days!! It’s boring but it works, I swear! Anyway, long story short: cranberry juice and reduce acid in your diet for a bit!!

You look gorgeous, by the way. I hope you feel better soon! I’ve been sick every other day as well it seems!!

The dress is absolutely gorgeous – love the way you wore it with the green cardigan. And your hair is lovely! It doesn’t look like a first attempt at all, haha. 🙂

The medical terminology is a bit over my head, but I hope you feel better though!

!!! Your hair! I didn’t even really think that was doable but holy crow you pulled it off awesomely. That waterfall braid is so cool.

That kind of story is why I am always hesitant to buy clothing online. Bad shipping issues, or a cheap item. I really like being able to touch and feel something before buying it and more than once have been disappointed upon finally having something in my hands. It is a lovely dress though, and a great colour.
